Our visitors can’t help but share their memories and stories when they enter this special little shop. Once to be found in the moorland village of Rosedale East, the High Shop was one of the community’s most valuable assets. It wasn’t just a place for buying groceries, but a shared space for village news and a good old chinwag.
One of our most nostalgic spaces, the High Shop is stacked with everything from vintage marmite jars to rolls of Izal loo paper! Tucked away among the shelves, you’ll find reminders of past stories.
Look in the corner to find the Post Office desk. Remember when eggs were such a scarce treat that you would post them to your loved ones?
Our High Shop is all set out to perfectly evoke the 1950s charm of the post-war years, but nowadays we like to think that it’s much more than a store. Adopt our lovely shop, not to save bricks and mortar, but to preserve the memories of shopping in the past.
For the adopter, and with our thanks, you will receive...
