Adopt an Object

Your history...in our care

For sixty years, Ryedale Folk Museum has been caring for the history and heritage of the North York Moors. From tractors and ploughs, to books, maps and clothes....from the big to the small, we've been looking after it all! But we're not just about things, we're about people too - and the people that live and work in the North York Moors are at the heart of everything we do.

We are asking for your help...

Now, as the Museum reaches its 60th birthday we are launching a new fundraising campaign to help us look after our historic buildings and the many thousands of objects in our collection.

Adopt an Object

You can help Ryedale Folk Museum by 'adopting' an object from as little as £25. Adoptions can make a great Christmas or birthday present for the history lover in your life. Each adoption is on a first-come, first-served basis, so don't delay if you see something that takes your fancy!

The Boring Stuff

All funds raised will go towards supporting the care and conservation of the Museum's buildings and its collections. Adoptions last for 12 months from the date the object is adopted. Some items are not on display. Please check in advance if you are uncertain. There is no right of free entry to the Museum to visit an adopted object. Please purchase an admission ticket as normal. Adoptions are on a first come, first served basis - so don't delay if one of our brilliant objects catches your eye.
