This special instrument is a very charming cornet and became an integral part of both the Farndale and Kirkbymoorside Bands. Sure to appeal to music maestros across the land, this cornet wasn't just another band instrument. It was actually a personal treasure of Mr Will Wardle, in contrast to the more usual practice whereby instruments were owned by the band. Mr Wardle even engraved it using his very first wages in the early 20th century.
In case you need further convincing, we like to think that the cornet is the cool cousin of the trumpet, with a sleek, slightly curved design. It plays in the key of B♭ and adds a touch of smooth to any musical ensemble. Our cornet was made by Booset & Co. London.
